Hill County in House District 13 Center of Efforts by Taxpayers to Expose Fraud and Corruption Related to Energy Contracts and Tax Abatements by Local Government and School Districts

Taxpayers have joined forces to expose fraud and corruption by the Hill County Commissioner’s Court relating to Energy Conservation Contracts and Lucrative Tax Abatement agreements to subsidize the Green Energy industry and AI Data Centers on the backs of taxpayers in the county. Contracts have been awarded without following standard contracting protocols and competitive bidding requirements as required in Section 252.021 and 252.0215 of the Texas Government Code.

Taxpayers were in court on April 7th attending the Hill County Commissioner’s Court. Linda Polley a local resident and landowner voiced her concerns and issues regarding the tax abatement agreement being considered for the new Nexsus data center located just east of Hubbard. Jeff Mashburn a resident in Itasca filed a Public Information Request for documents relating to an Energy Conservation contract awarded to a single vendor that was sole-sourced and bypassed required protocols and competitive bidding for projects in excess of $100,000.00. The vendor was awarded multiple consecutive contracts since 2020.
